Building a new home for the PWC of today, with room to grow for the needs of tomorrow.
- Modern facility built on land fully owned by PWC establishes permanence and elevates the quality of our facilities to match the quality of our care.
- Centralized location in San Luis Obispo County allows for quicker response times and increased accessibility.
- Floor plan minimizes occurrence of human interaction and imprinting on wildlife for best chances of successful release after care.
- Designed to adequately separate prey and predator species to minimize stress for best chances of rehabilitation.
- Flexible spaces accommodate seasonal influxes in wildlife populations and support our ability to respond to natural or man-made disasters.
- Increased capacity and updated facilities improve operational efficiency and create safer working conditions for staff and volunteers.
SITE PLAN
Our Vision for the Future
The $11.5 million Campaign for Wildlife will fund our new facility and support ongoing operations, ensuring high-quality animal care during our transition. Generous donors have contributed $5.7 to secure the 10-acre site and build the Kim and Derrel Ridenour Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Additionally, our supporters have committed over $3.8 million in legacy gifts for the future. Thanks to our board and generous donors, we’re well on our way to making this vision a reality.
Key Features of Our New Facility
- Dedicated areas for surgeries and isolation.
- Larger flight cages and transitional aviaries.
- Spaces for volunteer training and public programs.
Why This New Facility Is Critical
